Congressman Poe issued the following statement on today's announcement regarding offshore drilling:

"Today's announcement offers some good news to the Gulf Coast - President Obama responded to the letter sent by me and 40 other Members of Congress to reverse his decision banning shallow water drilling. But, the unintended consequences of the continued ban on all other drilling are far reaching and has the potential to cause additional widespread economic damage to the Gulf Coast - and the entire United States."
